I thought it would never happen. I have nearly been a hermit for the last three weeks or so. I lose track! Ever since my updated version of PageMaker arrived and I started doing the typesetting and layout, my life has been all about getting ready to go to the printer. Not any more! I dropped off the electronic files of book and cover on CD along with laser printed proofs at Color Graphics just over one hour ago! Eric did a great job on the cover, Hank stood in the wings to handle the most tricky technical aspects of file transfer, as well as reading through the entire first draft of the PDF proof (after I did the same) to check for “pings” before you readers catch them.

It’s at the printer!

On July 18 I approved the final proofs, and told them to go ahead and print it! Now they estimate it will take until August 12 to go from this stage to finished books.

Meanwhile, here is a copy of the back page with prices and ordering information. I will need a little time once I have books to circulate my pre-publication review copies, so click here to let me know if you want to write and publish a book review in either a local print publication or on-line.

And ... It's finally a book!

I took delivery of boxes and boxes of books on August 12, 2005 just as predicted.

Now the issue is Distribution and Marketing, 2006-2007!

Distribution News

Here's the summary so far:

As of January 4, 2006, I had distributed  just over 100 copies. Well over half of that 105 books were actual sales. A few of them were on consignment, and others were gift copies or review copies (seed).

At the end of 2006, the list of sold books had grown to over 500. Libraries were perhaps my best customers. Only a few local bookstores carried the book on consignment, including Baker Book House and Schueller Books and Music. Some copies were sold as "Back Table" books at speaking engagements, though there were fewer invitations to speak than I had hoped. This website has generated sales, both for single books and for multiple copies, presumably for book clubs and Bible Studies. Early in 2007 I donated multiple copies to CBE, Christians for Biblical Equality. They still sell the book in their on-line book store, Equality Depot, as well as use it for promotional purposes.

The Second Eve is, of course, available from this website, and at Junia Publishing, PO Box 381, Jenison, MI  49429, or bette@juniapublishing.com

Marketing News

In November, 2005 I attended a CLASS seminar for Christian Communicators. Florence and Marita Littauer teach the fine art of public speaking, with a sprinkling of good advice for marketing and promoting books.

In January, 2006 I attended the Advanced Class seminar in Nashville. The key here is that this event is  held in conjunction with the semi-annual Christian Booksellers Convention. I was allowed to do a book-signing at the CLASS booth, giving books to booksellers from around the country.

In April, 2006 I attended Calvin College Festival of Faith and Writing, and purchased a table to display the book along with materials from CBE and Witness. (see Links on Home Page)

Prayer Partners wanted:

I have been enlisting prayer partners to lift me up as I: *speak to promote the book; *have opportunity to share my story of changing belief from traditionalism to Biblical equality; *overcome my fears in order to be all God asks me to be; *continue to write as the spirit leads; and *attempt to keep this web site updated and relevant.
